Mission & Vision

To advocate for the elimination of educational and economic inequities by connecting socioeconomically disadvantaged youth to opportunities in technology and innovation.

We Promote for and envision an equity-centered K–16 ecosystem in Silicon Valley, beginning in Alameda, Santa Clara, and Santa Mateo counties, where every learner can access, persist in, and complete their education.

Ed Alvarez

Ed Alvarez

Ed Alvarez is an education leader with 25 years of experience, including the chairmanship of the board of the National Hispanic University, the Foundation for
Hispanic Education, the Latino Education Advancement Foundation, and English Together. He is a University of Santa Clara Trustee Emeritus, a founding member of Cristo Rey San Jose Jesuit High School, and a former member of the Board of Directors of San Francisco Bay University. Mr. Alvarez has been recognized for his work by several organizations, including the Latino Business Leader Award from the San Jose Business Journal. He is also the author of the San Jose Spotlight article, Equity in Education. He currently serves as the Executive Director of the Silicon Valley Equity in Education Institute and as President of SFBU Education, Inc., an AI‑focused product developer. Mr. Alvarez has a background in law, accounting, and sports management.

Dr. Cheryl Ingram

Dr. Cheryl Ingram

Dr. Cheryl Denise Ingram, widely known as Dr. CI, is the Deputy Executive Director of the Silicon Valley Equity and Education Institute (SVEEI). With over twenty years of professional experience spanning education, corporate leadership, nonprofit development, and media, Dr. CI is nationally and globally recognized for her work in advancing equity through data, policy, and accountability.

Dr. CI holds a Doctorate in Education with a specialization in Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion, a Master of Education degree, and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Communication Studies. She is also pursuing a Doctor of Business Administration, with a focus on executive leadership, organizational behavior, and DEI outcomes. Her academic and applied research integrates Critical Race Theory, leadership psychology, and quantitative data analysis to examine how power, identity, and institutional systems shape access and opportunity.

In addition to SVEEI, Dr. CI is the Founder and CEO of Inclusologist, a DEI research and technology company building global benchmarks for equity and belonging, and creative works. Her clients and collaborators have included major global brands, production companies, and higher education institutions. Dr. CI is also an accomplished author and public intellectual. Her published works, including DEI-ing and Soulful Words, challenge institutions to move beyond performative inclusion toward structural, measurable transformation. As a nonprofit and social impact leader, she has collectively raised millions in funding to advance education access, workforce equity, and creative media initiatives centered on marginalized communities.

Through SVEEI, her scholarship, and her media work, Dr. CI continues to shape national conversations on education equity, leadership accountability, and the future of inclusive innovation.
